Assalamu'alaikum !
At a time when gifts, presents and all kinds of offerings are ever more often seen to exchange hands, perhaps it is wise to reflect and ponder upon the precious teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for some guidance. Here is just one of them:
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "O Muslim women! None of you should look down upon the gift sent by her she-neighbour even if it were the trotters of the sheep (fleshless part of legs)."
So, if a gift were to be presented upon you, judge not just by the materialistic value it displays, rather the spiritualistic value that lies within...and be thankful to Allah. Salam.
